Fashion looked through the eyes of the camo patterns and fabrics in the streetwear world.
The right direction…
Camo…, who would have thought that the specificity of a pattern that long ago found its purpose would end up in modern-day streetwear get up. Designed for mimicking the surrounding environment, now made to stand out as a feature. From rappers and celebrities to everyday wearers, camo became an undeniable part of the streetwear fashion industry. A Bold and macho style, representing the ones who have that appeal.
But where did it all begin?
Where it began…
The matte striped attire became noticeable from fashion magazines as early as the 1940s. It mainly served as an introduction to the people, more so than fashion advice at that time. A strong opinion can be composed for the 1970s, where counterculture statements, and the Vietnam War played a big role in subtly entangling the tactic of clothing with fashion.
Slowly after those years come the 80’s when only the toughest of characters would dare to wear the green and brown-themed military clothing. A day at a time and from one fashion statement to another, a fad became reality. The 90s is the incorporation of the style. You can see the trend overtake the east coast of the US rap scene. After all, people needed to have something to represent the tough times and street circumstances surrounding them. What better way than bringing fashion and music together.
Mobb Deep said it best in his song “Survival of the Fittest”:
“There is war goin’ on outside no man is safe from. You could run, but you can’t hide forever from these streets that we done took”
Move or be moved…
When it’s time to thrive, the streetwear culture makes one of the biggest impacts on the wearer. The same goes when the camouflage-covered threads entered the culture. A lot of momentary fads with the typical jungle camo, a splash of color, and voila, you have a new trend. You can say the person took the style by storm, not the other way around…, People, going wild and making all kinds of camo-based styles, stretching them to the Serengeti.
Now you have everything…, and we mean everything. Take a closer look at the world, and you can see every concealing decor known to man. All you have to do is find yourself in it.
And us…
For us, camo can mean a lot of things. Try to hide…, try to stand out…, try to be a part of something, doesn’t matter.
You create your persona, if you choose to wrap it up in a pair of camo joggers is up to you. We give you the freedom to find what person you want to be. It’s up to us to catch up and represent you the best way possible…, even if that means hiding you in a Tiger Camo hoodie.
